Chlamydia is one of the most common std found in the U.S. It affects about 4million individuals every year. It remains one of the most illusive diseases as it tends to remain asymptomatic and hidden in 50 % of males and 75% of females. However, an individual can harbor this organsim and not know about it for many years. It tends to emerge when one is on the period. It can also appear at other times with symptoms of vaginal discharge, vaginal odor, intermenstrual bleeding, or pelvic pains. When it involves the pelvis, an individual gets PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). This can lead to sterility and if untreated even death.
Simple antibiotics can help destroy this organism and safe sex behavior can help prevent this disease.

Air Travel in Pregnancy
The atmosphere help protect us from radiation that is everpresent around us. Once we travel higher in the atmosphere, we are again subjected to this radiation. Air travel therefore presents us with this danger.
A safe dose of radiation for a pregnancy is 1mSv during the entire 40 weeks. Airplane pilots and airline stewardess who become pregnant still have to abide by this ceiling of radiation. Traditionally, a long transcontinental flight only has about 15 percent of this total dose. For those who only make a couple of flighsts during the entire pregnancy never even get close enough to this amount.
Other dangers of air travel include going into labor or miscarrying in the early months of the pregnancy. Airlines will restrict travel over 36 weeks into the pregnancy as well as in the early pregnancy.

Endometriosis is a disease where the cells that line the uterus are somehow transplanted outside the uterus. They may be found on the ovary, fallopian tubes, bowel, bladder, or even the in the lungs. Pain is the most frequent symptom of this disease.
Generally treatment involves giving birth control pills as a first line of therapy along with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (i.e. ibuprofen). If these are not working, heavier duty drugs that suppress a woman’s hormones are given (Gnrh agonists/antagonists). Surgery is reserved for ovarian cysts that do not go away and severe pelvic pains that are unresponsive to the simpler medications. Surgery is also the only definitive way of diagnosing this disease. Sometimes, the endometriosis implants as well as endometriosis cysts can be seen on pelvic ultrasounds.
Some women have a genetic predisposition to this disease. Pregnancy can help suppress the disease. However, a lot of cases end up in a hysterectomy and removal of tubes and ovaries.  This may be the last step in the treatment process but it may be the biggest help to some cases.
